During his visit this Tuesday to the controversial immigrant detention center erected in the middle of the Everglades in Florida, which has been dubbed the “Alligator Alcatraz” due to the surrounding wildlife, Donald Trump once again suggested the possibility of deporting people born in the country.

The measure, in any case, is unconstitutional and illegal, as dozens of experts consulted in recent months have pointed out in response to threats from the President of the United States.

What was Trump’s threat?
“I think we should also get them out of here, if they want to know the truth, maybe that will be the next job we do together,” said Trump during his visit to a facility he had joked about shortly before leaving the White House. “We’re going to teach them how to escape from an alligator. Don’t run in a straight line,” he mocked.
This is not the first time that the president has mentioned the possibility of expelling those born in the country but with more immediate origins in other countries, and he has even proposed ending birthright citizenship, protected in one of the amendments of the Constitution.
Trump also reiterated his criticisms of the supposed “open-door policy” of the Biden administration and stated that his government is being “forced” to act as they are in order to maintain order and security in the United States, once again linking crime with immigration.
“When I left, we had a very powerful border. We didn’t have any problems. He opened it the first day. He just opened the border. People couldn’t believe it,” said Trump, claiming without evidence that millions of people from jails around the world entered the United States during Joe Biden’s years in government.
The President of the United States stated that these new facilities in the Everglades will house “some of the most dangerous migrants, some of the cruelest people on the planet” and joked about the surroundings of the center. “It’s not a place you want to go on a hike,” he quipped.
Authorities point out that the “Alligator Alcatraz,” surrounded by vast swamps and marshes, has a capacity for 3,000 people and will be guarded by around 400 security agents, in addition to being equipped with over 200 security cameras and surrounded by more than 8,500 meters of barbed wire.
The center was set up with tents and bunk beds at the former Dade-Collier Training and Transition Airport.
New contradiction from Trump?
Despite his constant threats against immigrants and the raids ordered by his government throughout the country, Donald Trump announced a series of measures to appease the agricultural sector that has been protesting against the massive raids that have led to the arrest of hundreds of farmworkers. He explained that those who employ these individuals in their facilities will be held responsible for them.
“We will give them responsibilities over people. And we will have a system to register them so they don’t have to leave. They can be here legally, pay taxes and everything. They don’t get citizenship, but they do get other things,” said the president of the United States.
