On the other hand, actress and singer Ariana DeBose, winner of the Oscar, Tony, and Golden Globe, will be recognized with the HOLA Excellence Award Rita Moreno, for her talent and her push for Latino visibility in entertainment.

“Paying tribute to Lin-Manuel Miranda and this inspiring group of creators reaffirms our mission: to celebrate those who not only transform the arts, but also pave the way for future generations,” said Pablo Andrade, executive and artistic director of HOLA.

Recognition of emerging and established artists

The gala will take place at the HK Hall in New York and will also award Patricia Delgado, choreographer of Buena Vista Social Club on Broadway, with the HOLA Award for Excellence in Choreography Graciela Daniele. Leonardo Reyna will receive the HOLA Award for Emerging Artist Elizabeth Peña.

Singer-songwriter Joy Huerta, from the production Real Women Have Curves - The Musical, will be honored with the HOLA Award for Excellence in Music. This year, Huerta became the first Mexican woman to write the original score for a Broadway musical, also receiving a Tony nomination in her debut.

Likewise, the INTAR Theater will be recognized with the HOLA Excellence in Theater Award for its nearly six-decade legacy in developing Latino talent in the United States, and for appointing Nidia Medina as its first artistic director this season.

Celebrating half a century of Latino empowerment

HOLA, founded in 1975, is one of the leading non-profit organizations dedicated to showcasing and empowering Latino and Hispanic artists in American theater, film, and television. It offers mentorship, masterclasses, professional workshops, and development opportunities for emerging and established artists.

The gala, scheduled for October, will serve as a fundraiser for their annual programs supporting the Latin artistic community.

Among the previous honorees of the HOLA Awards are figures such as Rita Moreno, Antonio Banderas, Benicio del Toro, Chita Rivera, and Pedro Pascal.
