“He knows that the Lakers are building for the future. He understands it, but values a realistic possibility of winning it all,” agent James, Rich Paul, declared to ESPN.

King James will exercise the option that will earn him 52.6 million dollars for the 2025-2026 season, and only the official confirmation is pending.
“We understand the difficulty of winning now while preparing for the future. We want to assess what is best for LeBron at this stage of his life and career. He wants to make the most of every season he has left, and the Lakers understand, support him, and want the best for him,” added the agent.
LeBron, 40 years old, shares the season record with Vince Carter, but if the renewal is confirmed, he will be the sole holder of the record for most seasons played.
The four-time NBA champion is also looking to break the record of Robert Parish, former Boston Celtics player, who played 1,611 regular season games. LeBron James is just 49 games away from tying Parish’s record and 50 games away from breaking it.
