A repeated complaint from Bad Bunny

Bad Bunny has spoken out several times against the companies in charge of the electrical service on the island. Especially during his tour “Un verano sin ti”, where in several cities he delivered a message against the company before singing his song: “El apagón” (The blackout).

Similarly, Bad Bunny released the song “Una velita” last September, highlighting the current situation of the country and at the same time playing a leading role in supporting the alliance between the Puerto Rican Independence Party (PIP) and the Citizens’ Victory Movement (MVC).

The urban exponent was also a key part of the summer of 2019, when multiple artists came together to demand the resignation of then governor Ricardo Rosselló.

Blackout leaves more than a million customers without power

The company Genera PR confirmed that the shutdown of all power generation plants caused a massive blackout.

This is an event that affects both the Genera PR plants and the rest of the private generating units.

“We inform that we have experienced a massive blackout across the island due to the unexpected shutdown of all generation plants, including those of Genera PR and other private generators. This situation has caused a significant interruption in the electrical service,” they said in a statement. They then added that “we are aware of the seriousness of the situation and the impact this represents for our citizens.”
